Laurie Strode and Halloween Originals Confirmed for Halloween: The Game
Halloween fans have been given another reason to count down the days until September, as the developers behind Halloween: The Game have officially confirmed that several beloved characters from John Carpenter’s 1978 classic will be fully playable when the game launches.
The announcement confirms that Laurie Strode, Annie Brackett, Lynda van der Klok and Bob Simms will all appear in the game, bringing some of the franchise’s most iconic victims into the digital world. Not only will these characters feature within the game’s single-player story mode, but they will also be available as playable survivors in the multiplayer component.
For longtime fans of the original film, it is exactly the sort of news they have been hoping for.

The original Halloween remains one of the most influential horror films ever made. Released in 1978, John Carpenter’s masterpiece introduced audiences to Michael Myers, the silent masked killer who escaped Smith’s Grove Sanitarium and returned to his hometown of Haddonfield on Halloween night. While Michael became the face of the franchise, much of the film’s success was built upon its cast of relatable teenage characters, particularly Laurie Strode and her friends Annie and Lynda.
Laurie would go on to become one of horror’s greatest final girls, appearing throughout multiple entries in the franchise and becoming every bit as important to the series as Michael himself. Annie Brackett and Lynda van der Klok, meanwhile, remain fan favourites nearly fifty years later, thanks to their memorable personalities and the natural chemistry they shared on screen. Even Bob Simms, despite having considerably less screen time, became an unforgettable part of horror history thanks to one of Michael Myers’ most famous moments involving a pair of glasses and a white bedsheet.

The developers appear to understand just how important these characters are to fans. Working alongside Malek Akkad and Compass International Pictures, the team has carefully recreated the characters for the game while also adapting them to fit its unique style and gameplay systems.
According to the developers, these are not simple copies of the movie versions. Instead, they have been reimagined specifically for the game’s asymmetrical horror sandbox environment while remaining faithful to the spirit of Carpenter’s original film.
The game’s standard edition will feature ten playable civilian characters at launch. Alongside Laurie, Annie, Lynda and Bob, players will also be able to choose from Jennifer, Tanya, Rachel, Eric, Marcus and Thomas when attempting to survive Michael Myers’ deadly rampage.
A talented voice cast has also been assembled to bring the legacy characters to life. Nicholas Leung will voice Bob Simms, Angela Carbone takes on the role of Lynda van der Klok, Kaitlyn Robrock voices Annie Brackett and Chelsea Krause steps into the shoes of Laurie Strode.
Players looking to customise their favourite characters will also have plenty to unlock. Each of the legacy characters comes equipped with a default multiplayer outfit, but completing challenges throughout the single-player campaign will unlock additional costumes and cosmetic items. The developers have hinted that some of these unlockables will pay tribute to iconic looks from the original film, something that should immediately grab the attention of dedicated Halloween fans.
Art Director Cole Gray explained the team’s philosophy behind bringing the characters into the game, noting that they wanted every aspect of the experience to feel authentic to Carpenter’s world while also creating something fresh for modern players.
“We aren’t just adapting a widely adored movie; we’re building an entire world around it,” Gray explained. “To do justice to this classic, everything and everyone within it had to feel like they belonged together.”

The announcement is another encouraging sign for fans eagerly awaiting the game’s release. Since its reveal, Halloween: The Game has generated considerable excitement thanks to its focus on recreating the atmosphere of the original film rather than simply turning Michael Myers into another action-horror villain. The game places players directly into Haddonfield, allowing them to either become Michael Myers himself or take on the role of civilians desperately attempting to survive the night.
As Michael, players will stalk victims through neighbourhood streets, houses and familiar locations while embracing the methodical style of killing that made the character famous. Those playing as civilians will need to work together, evade detection and find ways to save fellow residents before Myers catches up with them.

For many fans, the inclusion of Laurie, Annie, Lynda and Bob is perhaps the clearest indication yet that the developers genuinely understand what makes Halloween special. The original film was never just about Michael Myers. It was about the people whose lives were shattered by his return to Haddonfield. Bringing those characters into the game helps preserve that spirit while giving players the opportunity to step directly into one of horror’s most beloved stories.
Halloween: The Game launches on September 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
