Interview with the Vampire Returns to 4K Ultra HD This October
One of the most lavish and influential vampire films ever made is finally making its long-awaited debut on 4K Ultra HD. Interview with the Vampire arrives on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and in a limited SteelBook edition on October 5, 2026, bringing Neil Jordan’s gothic masterpiece to the format for the very first time.
The release features a brand-new 4K restoration with High Dynamic Range (HDR), Dolby Atmos audio, and a selection of new and archival bonus features celebrating the film more than three decades after its original release.
Based on Anne Rice’s hugely successful 1976 novel Interview with the Vampire, the 1994 adaptation remains one of the defining vampire films of modern cinema. Directed by Academy Award winner Neil Jordan (The Crying Game), the film blends sweeping gothic horror, romance and tragedy into an epic tale spanning centuries.
The story begins in modern-day San Francisco, where a weary, 200-year-old vampire named Louis de Pointe du Lac agrees to tell his extraordinary life story to an ambitious reporter. As Louis recounts his journey through centuries of immortality, audiences are introduced to the charismatic and dangerous Lestat de Lioncourt, whose decision to transform Louis into a vampire changes both of their lives forever. Their complicated relationship is further transformed with the arrival of the child vampire Claudia, creating one of horror cinema’s most memorable and emotionally complex family dynamics.
The film assembled an extraordinary cast that has only become more impressive with time. Tom Cruise stars as the flamboyant and manipulative Lestat, opposite Brad Pitt as the conflicted Louis. The supporting cast includes Antonio Banderas, Stephen Rea, Christian Slater, and a breakout performance from Kirsten Dunst, who earned widespread acclaim for her portrayal of Claudia at just eleven years old.
Upon release, Interview with the Vampire proved both a commercial and critical success, introducing Anne Rice’s richly detailed Vampire Chronicles to an even wider audience. The production was also recognised by the Academy Awards, receiving nominations for Best Original Score and Best Art Direction at the 67th Academy Awards. Among the newly produced extras is Eternal Night and Deadly Light, in which director Neil Jordan and editor Mick Audsley reflect on the film’s visual style and explain how cinematographer Philippe Rousselot helped create its unmistakable gothic romanticism. A second new featurette, Interview with the Vampire: Creating the World, sees Jordan joined by production designer Dante Ferretti to discuss the elaborate sets, carefully chosen locations and exquisite costume design that brought Anne Rice’s world to life on screen.
Fans will also find a healthy selection of legacy material carried over, including deleted scenes, Neil Jordan’s audio commentary, an introduction by Anne Rice, Neil Jordan and Antonio Banderas, alongside the documentaries In the Shadow of the Vampire and Lestat, Louis and the Vampire Phenomenon.
Technically, the release is equally impressive. The 4K disc presents the film in 2160p Ultra High Definition with HDR, accompanied by a Dolby Atmos-TrueHD soundtrack. A standard Blu-ray is also included, featuring a 1080p presentation and DTS-HD Master Audio. With a running time of 123 minutes, the release carries a 15 certificate in the UK.
Collectors will be able to choose between the standard 4K Ultra HD edition, priced at £23 RRP, or a premium SteelBook edition with an RRP of £35.
