Last Slate Video Brings Snapdragon Back to Life in a Stylish, Extras-Packed UK Blu-ray Debut
If there’s one boutique label quietly proving that physical media is far from dead, it’s Last Slate Video, who return with Snapdragon. Still relatively new to the scene, the company has been building serious momentum with a slate of releases that mix cult credibility with genuine care and presentation. Early titles like A Light Through Coloured Glass and The Stranger set the tone, while slasher favourites Laid to Rest and Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2 showed a clear love for genre cinema.
Now, Last Slate Video have gone back to the early 90s with a release that feels both unexpected and perfectly on brand: Snapdragon, the steamy erotic thriller that marked Pamela Anderson’s first real step into movie stardom, finally making its UK Blu-ray debut.

Sex, Suspicion, and a Very 90s Nightmare
Snapdragon is pure early 90s erotic thriller through and through. When two men are found murdered after encounters with an unknown prostitute, Vice Squad detective Sergeant Peckham is transferred to Homicide to lead the investigation. Working alongside her boyfriend, police psychologist David Stratton, she begins profiling the killer, only for the case to take a darker and more intimate turn.
Enter Felicity, an amnesiac woman plagued by vivid, recurring nightmares in which she kills her lovers. As Peckham and Stratton grow closer to her, it becomes increasingly clear that Felicity may be more than just a witness, and possibly the key to the murders themselves. What follows is a familiar but effective mix of erotic tension, psychological unease, and late night cable TV vibes, the kind of film that thrived in the post video store era.
Pamela Anderson Before the Baywatch Era Took Over
Snapdragon arrived at a pivotal moment in Pamela Anderson’s career. Having already made an impression through appearances on Home Improvement, Married with Children, and her high profile Playboy shoots, this film represented her first proper attempt at movie stardom.
Directed by Worth Keeter, the film clearly aims to position Anderson within the erotic thriller boom ignited by Basic Instinct, starring Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas. While Snapdragon never reaches the same cultural heights, it’s a solid, often stylish entry into the genre, and a fascinating snapshot of Anderson at the very beginning of her film career.

A Blu-ray Release Done Right
As expected, Last Slate Video treat Snapdragon with far more respect than it ever received during its original release. The film is presented in crisp 1080p, giving the neon soaked visuals and shadowy interiors a welcome upgrade.
The extras are where this release really shines. Highlights include a brand new interview with Worth Keeter, who reflects on making the film and working within the erotic thriller landscape of the era. There’s also an in depth Pamela Anderson retrospective that charts her career across film and television, providing useful context for where Snapdragon sits in her journey.
Also returning is one of Last Slate Video’s signature features, the LSV Movie Night retrospective, presented by British actress Kelsey Dee, who guides viewers through the film with trivia, production insights, and an obvious affection for the genre.

Packaging Worth Displaying
Collectors will be pleased to hear that the physical extras are just as strong. The release includes four postcards, a poster, and newly commissioned alternative artwork featuring a striking black and grey snapdragon flower that feels far classier than you might expect from an erotic thriller. The original poster art has also been repainted and refreshed, retaining its familiar look while giving it a more modern polish.
It’s the kind of package that looks great on the shelf and rewards repeat viewing, exactly what boutique physical media should be doing.
Snapdragon A Must Have
If you’re a thriller fan, an erotic thriller enthusiast, or a Pamela Anderson completist, this release is an easy recommendation. Snapdragon may not be a lost masterpiece, but it’s an entertaining, very 90s genre piece that deserves far better than VHS obscurity.
Better still, Last Slate Video aren’t slowing down. Their next release, When The Bough Breaks, a 90s thriller starring Ally Walker, Martin Sheen, and Ron Perlman, is already available to pre order via their website right HERE.
If this run of releases is anything to go by, Last Slate Video are quickly becoming one of the most interesting boutique labels in the UK. And Snapdragon is further proof that they know exactly what cult cinema fans want.
