Kenan & Kel Reunite for Frankenstein Horror Comedy Movie
It is finally happening. Not a sketch, not a cameo, and not a nostalgia driven commercial. Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are officially teaming up again for a full scale horror comedy, and the monster they have chosen to face is Frankenstein.
The project is titled Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein, and the announcement came during Mitchell’s appearance on Thompson’s Prime Video talk show Good Sports. The reveal immediately sparked excitement among longtime fans, offering a reunion that feels both unexpected and perfectly timed. The film promises a mix of broad comedy, spooky set pieces, and classic monster movie energy, blending nostalgia with a fresh genre spin.

Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein Brings Monsters and Mayhem
In the film, Thompson and Mitchell play delivery drivers whose painfully ordinary work night takes a sudden and disastrous turn. A routine drop off sends them to a remote and deeply unsettling castle, a place that absolutely should not exist. As expected, they manage to awaken Frankenstein’s monster, transforming a simple job into a chaotic fight for survival.
The story is designed as a loving throwback to the Abbott and Costello monster movies of the 1940s and 1950s. The tone leans into physical comedy, gothic imagery, and escalating absurdity, allowing the duo’s chemistry to drive the film as everything around them spirals out of control.
The screenplay is written by Jonah Feingold, whose previous work includes At Midnight. Early descriptions suggest a balance between slapstick humour and light horror, aiming to entertain without losing the playful spirit that made Kenan and Kel such a defining comedy pairing.
Why This Reunion Matters
For fans who grew up on All That, Kenan & Kel, and Good Burger, this project feels like a natural continuation rather than a forced revival. Thompson and Mitchell first became comedy staples in the mid nineties, with their partnership defining an era of Nickelodeon television. While Thompson went on to become a fixture on Saturday Night Live, Mitchell remained closely associated with their shared legacy.
Their reunion in Good Burger 2 proved that the chemistry still works, and Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein pushes that dynamic into new territory by placing it firmly within a genre framework. Rather than simply repeating old beats, the film uses horror iconography to give their partnership a new playground.
Thompson has spoken about the appeal of the project, saying that the film felt like the perfect blend of nostalgia, comedy, and something completely unexpected. Mitchell echoed that sentiment, noting that working together still feels natural and that the film allows them to explore familiar dynamics while doing something entirely new.
A Horror Comedy With Classic Roots
Behind the scenes, the film is being produced through Thompson’s Artists for Artists banner alongside Range Media Partners. Production is expected to begin later this summer, with Thompson and Mitchell producing alongside John Ryan Jr., Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Carter Swan. Will Hariton, Azim Spicer, and Monica Weber serve as executive producers, with Range Media also handling sales.
The project arrives at a time when classic movie monsters are being reimagined across genres, and Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein appears to embrace that tradition without taking itself too seriously. Thompson’s growing involvement in genre projects, including his work on Sleepaway Camp, suggests this is not a one off novelty but part of a broader creative interest in horror driven storytelling.

While casting details and a release window have yet to be announced, the premise alone is enough to sell the idea. Two comedy legends, a classic monster, and a knowingly ridiculous setup that understands exactly why audiences still care about Kenan and Kel.
Frankenstein has faced angry villagers, mad scientists, and decades of cinematic reinvention. He has never had to deal with these two.
