Physical media collectors have another reason to clear some shelf space this autumn, as Toy Robot Video, the new boutique label from Arrow Video, has announced that the 1986 cult horror favourite Trick or Treat will receive a brand-new Dual Format 4K UHD and Blu-ray release in the UK this October. Following the label’s launch with Masters of the Universe and The Guyver: Dark Hero, the latest announcement continues Toy Robot Video’s mission of bringing beloved cult classics back to collectors in premium editions packed with new restorations and extensive bonus features.
Directed by Charles Martin Smith, Trick or Treat has become one of the defining heavy metal horror films of the 1980s. Released during the height of the so-called “Satanic Panic”, the film cleverly tapped into fears surrounding heavy metal music while delivering a supernatural revenge story that has since developed a loyal cult following. Marc Price, best known for playing Skippy on Family Ties, stars as teenage outsider Eddie Weinbauer, whose world is shattered when his rock idol, Sammi Curr, dies unexpectedly. As Halloween approaches, Eddie discovers that his hero’s music is capable of bringing the dead rocker back from beyond the grave, unleashing a vengeful spirit determined to turn admiration into slaughter.

While Watchers is a North American release and Trick or Treat is arriving in the UK, the pair of announcements demonstrate the breadth of Toy Robot Video’s ambitions as the label continues to expand its catalogue with cult favourites spanning horror, science fiction and fantasy.
