Last Slate Video Brings When The Bough Breaks To Blu Ray For The First Time
The team at Last Slate Video have been on an impressive roll lately, and they are showing no signs of slowing down with When The Bough Breaks. After resurrecting cult favourites like A Light Through Coloured Glass, The Stranger, Laid To Rest, and its metallic sibling Chromeskull Laid To Rest 2, plus preparing the upcoming release of Snapdragon starring Pamela Anderson in her first movie role this December, the boutique label has now announced its sixth entry in the collection: When The Bough Breaks.
The 1994 psychological thriller, starring Ally Walker and Martin Sheen, is finally getting its first ever Blu Ray release, and collectors will not have long to wait. The restored edition is scheduled to land at the end of February 2026, giving fans just enough time to clear a space on the shelf next to Last Slate’s growing set of beautifully packaged cult classics.

Directed by Michael Cohn, who would go on to helm the gothic Snow White A Tale of Terror, When The Bough Breaks blends police procedural grit with chilling psychological tension. Walker stars as forensic psychologist Dr Audrey Macleah, pulled into a disturbing case involving a string of child murders in Los Angeles. Working alongside veteran detective Jerry Zyskowski, played with weary authority by Sheen, she uncovers a deeply unsettling mystery involving a traumatised young boy whose silence may either point toward the killer or shield one.
This is prime early 90s thriller territory, soaked in atmosphere and driven by strong performances rather than cheap jump scares. Walker and Sheen anchor the story with intensity and emotional weight, while Cohn’s direction gives the film a moody, almost dreamlike quality that makes it stand out among its contemporaries.
Last Slate Video has given this underseen gem the prestige treatment it deserves. The Blu Ray features a new high definition restoration and a packed set of limited edition extras designed for fans and collectors. These include a slipcover, reversible sleeve featuring both original and new artwork by Studio Gerrard, four collectible art cards, and a fold out poster.
On the disc itself, fans will find a generous line up of new material:
- Chasing a Killer – a fresh interview with star Ally Walker
- Before the Bough Broke – a new interview with producer Barbara Javitz
- LSV Movie Night: When The Bough Breaks, hosted by Kelsey Dee
- The original trailer
- An image and stills gallery
- Optional English, Spanish, and German subtitles
Presented in Full HD 1080p, this stands as the definitive version of the 90’s thriller and the first time the film has ever been available in such a complete and respectful package.

With this release, Last Slate Video continues to establish itself as one of the most exciting boutique labels for collectors. In only six titles, they have built a catalogue that ranges from slashers to psychological chillers to early 90s erotic thrillers, each one rescued, restored, and celebrated in a way that physical media fans truly appreciate.
When The Bough Breaks arrives at the end of February 2026.
If you love atmospheric thrillers, forgotten 90s gems, or simply want to complete the growing Last Slate Video collection on your shelf, this release is a must have. Last Slate Video has already proven their commitment to physical media with thoughtful restorations of titles that had no business looking as good as they now do. A Light Through Coloured Glass stunned collectors with its crisp transfer, The Stranger finally received the attention it deserved, and both Laid To Rest films were given the kind of polished presentation fans had waited years for. With Snapdragon arriving soon and When The Bough Breaks following in February, the label is quickly becoming essential for anyone who still values a proper disc in the hand rather than another title lost in the digital void. We can’t wait to see what they release in 2026.
