Evil Dead (2013) Slashes onto UK 4K UHD This October with New Collector’s Edition
Horror collectors, sharpen your chainsaws because one of the bloodiest studio horror films of the last twenty years is finally making its UK 4K UHD debut.
STUDIOCANAL has officially announced that Fede Álvarez’s Evil Dead (2013) will arrive on 4K UHD Collector’s Edition on 19 October 2026, bringing the standalone continuation of Sam Raimi’s legendary franchise to Ultra HD for the very first time in the UK. Even better, the release is packed with both cuts of the film, a brand-new restoration, exclusive artwork and a generous helping of bonus features that should make this an essential purchase for horror fans.
Originally released in 2013, Evil Dead had the unenviable task of following one of the most beloved horror franchises ever created. Rather than attempting to replace Bruce Campbell’s Ash Williams, director Fede Álvarez wisely took the series in a darker, more brutal direction. The result was a relentless, uncompromising horror film that respected Sam Raimi’s original while forging its own gruesome identity.

Set decades after The Evil Dead (1981), the film follows recovering addict Mia, played brilliantly by Jane Levy, who heads to a remote woodland cabin with her brother and close friends in an attempt to overcome her addiction. Unfortunately, this being an Evil Dead movie, someone inevitably discovers the infamous Book of the Dead and decides reading ancient demonic incantations aloud is a fantastic idea. Predictably, all hell breaks loose as Mia becomes possessed and the group find themselves fighting for survival against the terrifying Deadites.
Jane Levy delivers one of the strongest performances in the entire franchise, portraying Mia with both vulnerability and ferocious intensity. As the horror escalates, she transforms into one of modern horror’s most memorable final girls, carrying much of the film’s emotional weight while enduring some truly nightmarish physical punishment. Alongside Levy, the cast includes Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Lou Taylor Pucci and Elizabeth Blackmore, all of whom help ground the supernatural carnage in believable performances.
Produced by original Evil Dead creators Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert, the 2013 film proved there was still plenty of life left in the franchise. It went on to gross almost $100 million worldwide, becoming both a commercial and critical success. Many praised its commitment to practical effects, gallons of gore and refusal to dilute the brutality that made Raimi’s original such a cult phenomenon. Entertainment Weekly famously remarked that its “delirious gross-out scenes” pushed mainstream horror further than almost any contemporary release.

The success of Evil Dead (2013) also helped launch Fede Álvarez into the top tier of horror directors. He would go on to direct Don’t Breathe, one of the most acclaimed horror thrillers of the last decade, before returning to another iconic franchise with this year’s Alien: Romulus. His work on Evil Dead also paved the way for the franchise’s resurgence, leading to the acclaimed television series Ash vs Evil Dead, 2023’s Evil Dead Rise, and this year’s newest entry, Evil Dead Burn.
This newly announced Collector’s Edition looks set to become the definitive home release of the film in the UK. The package includes a brand-new 4K restoration, both the Theatrical and Unrated cuts of the movie across two discs, and striking new artwork by Krishna Bala Shenoi. STUDIOCANAL has also opted for a clean collector-friendly presentation, with the technical specifications printed on a removable O-ring so the slipcase artwork remains unobstructed.

The bonus material is equally impressive, offering fans plenty to sink their teeth into. New featurette Beyond the Blood: Chris Tilly on Evil Dead (2013) joins an extensive archive of existing extras, including a feature-length commentary featuring Jane Levy, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, director Fede Álvarez and writer Rodo Sayagues. Also included are Making Life Difficult, Directing the Dead, Being Mia, Evil Dead: The Reboot, Unleashing the Evil Force, interviews with Álvarez, Jane Levy and Bruce Campbell, along with a recorded Q&A from London’s Ritzy Cinema.
Collectors will also receive a 64-page booklet, making this one of STUDIOCANAL’s most substantial horror releases of the year.
With physical media continuing to thrive thanks to premium releases from labels including STUDIOCANAL, Arrow Video, Second Sight Films, 88 Films, Radiance, Indicator, Last Slate Video and many others, there’s never been a better time to be a horror collector. Premium editions like this not only preserve modern classics in the highest possible quality but also celebrate the craftsmanship behind the films with carefully curated artwork, booklets and hours of supplementary material.
If you’ve yet to revisit Evil Dead (2013) since its original cinema release, this looks like the perfect excuse. Brutal, relentless, surprisingly emotional and packed with unforgettable moments, it remains one of the finest horror films of the 2010s and one of the very best modern entries in a long-running horror franchise.

Evil Dead (2013) 4K UHD Collector’s Edition releases in the UK on 19 October 2026 and is available to pre-order now. For fans of Deadites, practical gore and cabin-in-the-woods carnage, this is shaping up to be one of the must-own horror releases of the autumn.
