Nicolas Cage Faces Satan in First Trailer for The Carpenter’s Son
Few actors embody chaos and conviction quite like Nicolas Cage. From action classics like Face/Off to recent horror gems such as Mandy, Color Out of Space, and Renfield, Cage has made a career out of embracing the strange and the extreme. Now, in Lotfy Nathan’s feature debut The Carpenter’s Son, Cage takes on perhaps his most unholy adversary yet — the Devil himself.
The first trailer has just arrived, offering a glimpse at what promises to be one of the boldest horror releases of the year. Equal parts biblical epic and supernatural nightmare, the film reimagines the holy family at a terrifying crossroads of faith, temptation, and demonic influence.

A Biblical Battle Unleashed
The trailer opens with Cage’s Joseph, voice worn and desperate, whispering: “Let my faith endure.” From there, the tone shifts quickly into darkly surreal territory. Set in Roman-era Egypt, Joseph, Mary (FKA twigs), and their teenage son Jesus (Noah Jupe) live under constant threat while clinging to their beliefs. Their fragile peace shatters when a strange child (Isla Johnston) enters their lives, performing sinister “miracles” and whispering poisoned words in Jesus’ ear.
As violent and unnatural events spread through the settlement, Joseph realizes that something far darker is at work. Nightmarish visions, twisted prophecies, and chilling revelations follow — until the true identity of the child is revealed. The boy’s real name is Satan.
The Cast and Creative Team
Bringing a mythic story to life requires a daring cast, and The Carpenter’s Son delivers. Cage leads as Joseph, balancing spiritual conviction with fatherly fear. Musician and actor FKA twigs takes on the role of Mary, bringing a modern edge to one of history’s most iconic figures. Rising star Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place, Honey Boy) plays the teenage Jesus, tasked with embodying both innocence and the weight of divine destiny.
Director Lotfy Nathan, best known for his acclaimed documentary 12 O’Clock Boys, makes his first foray into narrative filmmaking here, delivering an ambitious mix of period detail, supernatural horror, and psychological tension.
Why This Works for Cage

Cage’s horror résumé has been growing steadily over the last decade. From the neon-soaked vengeance of Mandy to the cosmic terror of Color Out of Space, he has carved out a niche as one of the most daring performers in genre cinema. The role of Joseph — a man trying to protect his son from the ultimate evil — could prove to be one of his most emotionally raw turns yet, combining paternal drama with biblical horror spectacle.
