Lin Shaye and Amelia Eve to Star in Insidious 6 as Franchise Heads Back Into The Further
The chilling world of Insidious is set to open its spectral doors once again. According to Deadline, genre icon Lin Shaye and rising star Amelia Eve are confirmed to headline Insidious 6, the next entry in the long-running supernatural horror series. Production is slated to begin in Australia next week, with Jacob Chase directing from a script he co-wrote with David Leslie Johnson, known recently for his work on The Conjuring: Last Rites.

A Familiar Face Returns
Shaye’s return as psychic Elise Rainier will come as no surprise to fans. Despite her character’s death early in the franchise, Elise has remained its spiritual core, guiding audiences through the shadowy limbo known as The Further. She has appeared in every instalment to date, often as a spectral presence or in flashbacks, and her involvement signals that Insidious 6 will likely delve deep into the mythos of The Further once again.
Joining her is Amelia Eve, best known for her breakout performance in The Haunting of Bly Manor. This will mark her first appearance in the Insidious universe, and her casting suggests a new generation of characters may be at the heart of the story.
While plot details are under wraps, the film promises to expand the world beyond the saga of the Lambert family, who were the focus of the first two films and returned for the most recent entry.
The Team Behind the Terror
Insidious 6 will be produced by horror heavyweights Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell. All four were instrumental in launching the franchise in 2010 with Insidious, which became a breakout hit and helped redefine the haunted house subgenre for a new era.
Executive producers on this chapter include Ryan Turek, Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and co-writer David Leslie Johnson. This powerhouse creative team suggests that Insidious 6 will continue the series’ tradition of blending atmospheric tension with jump-scare-driven terror.
The Legacy of Insidious

The original Insidious film introduced audiences to the Lamberts, a family plagued by astral projection and malevolent spirits. Directed by James Wan and written by Leigh Whannell, it became a sleeper hit, earning over $100 million on a modest budget and spawning a full-blown franchise.
The saga has since included:
- Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013), which continued the Lambert storyline.
- Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015), a prequel exploring Elise’s origins.
- Insidious: The Last Key (2018), delving deeper into Elise’s childhood.
- Insidious: The Red Door (2023), which brought the Lamberts’ story full circle.
The most recent entry, directed by Patrick Wilson in his directorial debut, became the highest-grossing chapter yet, pulling in more than $189 million on a $16 million budget. Its critical and commercial success reinvigorated the brand and proved audiences still had an appetite for The Further.
Looking Ahead to The Further

While it is not yet confirmed if the Lambert family will return in Insidious 6, Wilson has previously suggested that their arc is complete, leaving room for new characters to carry the torch. The addition of Amelia Eve hints at a possible passing of the baton to a younger protagonist, while Lin Shaye’s Elise could serve as a guide or protector from beyond.
Director Jacob Chase is best known for Come Play and the acclaimed short The Girl in the Woods, both of which showcased his knack for supernatural suspense. Pairing Chase’s atmospheric sensibilities with Johnson’s experience in crafting blockbuster horror sequels could make for an exciting new direction.
With production kicking off imminently, Insidious 6 is scheduled to hit cinemas on 21 August 2026. As the shadows of The Further stir once more, fans can expect another descent into one of modern horror’s most enduring and terrifying universes.
