Who Is the Funny Man?
The Funny Man is a sadistic, supernatural jester — a demonic trickster with a love for grotesque punchlines and fourth-wall-breaking sadism. Dressed like a court jester, with a painted face and exaggerated expressions, he doesn’t just kill — he performs. Whether it’s mutilation or illusion, the Funny Man turns death into a joke, and the punchline is always fatal.
Born from a cursed totem passed down in a high-stakes poker game, this entity isn’t bound by logic, reality, or physics. He exists purely to torment, slaughter, and amuse himself in twisted, theatrical fashion.
Funny Man (1994)

Directed by Simon Sprackling, Funny Man is a surreal blend of horror, black comedy, and low-budget psychedelia. The plot follows a record producer named Max Taylor, who wins an ancient mansion in a poker game from a strange aristocrat. What Max doesn’t know is that the house comes with a demonic jester — the Funny Man, who has no intention of letting the new owner leave alive.
From there, the film descends into madness. The Funny Man kills members of Max’s family one by one using bizarre, cartoonish methods — a roulette wheel of slaughter that includes face-peeling, nail guns, toy guillotines, and impalements. He constantly breaks the fourth wall, speaking to the camera like a sadistic host, offering puns and vaudeville-style one-liners before or after each kill.
What sets the film apart is its tone — think Monty Python meets Hellraiser, shot through a VHS fever dream. There’s gore, but also absurdity. There’s murder, but also musical numbers. The Funny Man is less a slasher and more a chaotic force of demonic cabaret, killing not out of vengeance, but sheer amusement.
The film also features a cameo by Christopher Lee — adding some horror royalty to the madness.
