Who Is Jacob Goodnight?
Jacob Goodnight is a massive, reclusive killer driven by religious trauma and psychological torment. Towering at nearly 7 feet tall, with unmatched strength and grotesque scars, Jacob is less a man and more a wrathful force of judgment. His method of choice? Hooks, chains, axes — anything brutal and medieval.
Raised by a fanatically abusive mother who preached hellfire and sexual repression, Jacob was taught to view the world through a lens of sin and punishment. His mother, Margaret, instilled in him the belief that “the eyes are the windows to the soul,” leading Jacob to gouge out the eyes of his victims — a signature that defines him across both films.
He’s not clever. He’s not subtle. He’s pure wrath in human flesh.
See No Evil (2006)

Directed by Gregory Dark and produced by WWE Studios, See No Evil introduces Jacob Goodnight as a boogeyman of religious retribution. After a deadly police raid leaves several officers dead, one survivor — Officer Williams — remains haunted by the man who nearly killed him: a giant with a hook and dead eyes.
Years later, a group of juvenile delinquents is sent to the abandoned Blackwell Hotel for community service. Unbeknownst to them, Jacob lives in the walls — stalking, watching, and eventually slaughtering them one by one.
Jacob:
- Hooks victims through walls and drags them into darkness.
- Gouges out eyes as trophies, storing them in jars.
- Uses brute strength to smash, snap, and crush.
His kills are unflinching — throats slit with shards, bodies thrown through windows, and a dog used as a bait trap. His mother’s voice echoes in his mind, reinforcing the idea that the sinful must suffer.
What sets Jacob apart is the physicality. Portrayed by WWE legend Kane, every movement feels heavy and unstoppable — he’s a slasher who doesn’t run… because he doesn’t have to.
The film ends with Jacob being impaled through the eye and seemingly killed — but evil like his doesn’t stay buried.
See No Evil 2 (2014)

Directed by the Soska Sisters, the sequel picks up immediately after the original. Jacob’s body is brought to the city morgue… but he doesn’t stay dead for long.
A group of medical staff — including horror regulars Danielle Harris and Katharine Isabelle — find themselves locked inside the facility as Jacob rises again. Stronger, angrier, and more unrelenting than before, he hunts them through steel corridors, killing anyone in his path.
Notable moments:
- A body bag kill with bone-snapping force.
- A horrifying dissection-table execution.
- A shift from “sinful judgment” to raw slaughter — Jacob is now unleashed.
Though less eye-gouging and more traditional slasher carnage, the sequel humanizes Jacob slightly — giving fleeting glimpses of emotional conflict. But in the end, he remains a monster shaped by abuse, religious guilt, and isolation.
