Halloween Man Heads to IPI Comics as Free Devil’s Night Comic Kicks Off a New Era
After more than two decades of monsters, mad scientists, superheroes and assorted things lurking in the Texas darkness, Halloween Man is preparing for a new chapter. Drew Edwards’ long-running horror-superhero series is moving to IPI Comics, which will begin bringing the cult favourite to comic-shop shelves through a new range of physical collections in 2027.
The partnership gives Halloween Man a new print home while introducing the extensive history of the series to readers who may never have encountered its original webcomic incarnation. Rather appropriately, however, Edwards isn’t making fans wait until next year to celebrate. An entirely new comic, Halloween Man: Devil’s Night, has been released digitally for free through GlobalComix, arriving right in the middle of the Halloween season.

Created and written by Edwards, Halloween Man revolves around Solomon Hitch, an undead monster hunter whose adventures take place in a universe where horror, superhero comics, science fiction, folklore and the peculiarities of Texas are all perfectly capable of occupying the same page. Alongside him is brilliant scientist Dr. Lucy Chaplin, with the relationship between Solomon and Lucy providing the series with a continuing emotional centre beneath all the monsters and supernatural chaos.
The move to IPI Comics isn’t Edwards’ first involvement with the publisher. He previously worked with the company on his slasher series The Matron, and the success of that collaboration ultimately helped convince him that IPI was the right place for his signature creation.
“IPI has turned my slasher series The Matron into a smashing success, so it only felt natural to put my signature character under their umbrella,” Edwards said. “This is a natural evolution for Halloween Man, and I can’t wait to bring more of Solomon, Lucy, and the strange world they inhabit to comic-store shelves.”
Beginning in 2027, IPI plans to publish curated physical editions of Halloween Man, potentially providing an important new gateway into a series with more than 20 years of material behind it. For existing readers, the collections offer an opportunity to put the adventures of Solomon and Lucy on the shelf. For newcomers discovering the title through comic shops, they’ll provide a more conventional way into a property that began life online.
Devil’s Night Arrives for Halloween
Before the IPI era properly begins, Edwards and the Halloween Man creative team have delivered something new for October. Halloween Man: Devil’s Night is available completely free through GlobalComix and has been positioned as both a new adventure for established followers and an accessible starting point for anyone wondering what Halloween Man is all about.
The new release comes with a cover by acclaimed DC Comics artist and longtime Halloween Man collaborator Nicola Scott. The story continues the unusual cocktail that has defined Edwards’ creation, mixing horror and monsters with superhero adventure, humour, romance and the macabre rather than committing itself entirely to any one genre.

“October has always been a special month for me, and I’m really proud of this new comic,” Edwards said. “It ranks among the best releases we’ve ever put together. I think longtime fans are going to have a blast with it, while new readers will find it a great doorway into the weird world of Halloween Man.”
It’s certainly an appropriate month for Solomon Hitch to come knocking. While countless horror properties become considerably busier once the pumpkins appear in shop windows, Halloween has been baked into the identity of Edwards’ creation from the beginning. Releasing Devil’s Night free also means curious horror fans can investigate the series before the new physical collections begin appearing next year.
More Than Two Decades of Monsters
What started as a webcomic has gradually developed into a much larger independent comics universe. Over the years, Halloween Man has brought together an international collection of artists and collaborators while refusing to stay neatly inside the boundaries of conventional superhero or horror storytelling.
Classic monsters can rub shoulders with pulp science fiction, superheroics and Texas folklore, while romance and comedy sit alongside the macabre. Holding everything together are Solomon and Lucy, an unlikely heroic couple who have remained at the heart of the series as the world surrounding them has continued to expand.

Edwards himself has spent more than two decades working in independent comics and has twice been nominated for a Ringo Award. Alongside creating Halloween Man and writing The Matron, he is a member of PEN America’s Fellowship of Writers and co-hosts the Castle of Horror podcast.
The IPI Comics partnership now offers Halloween Man the opportunity to reach another audience without abandoning the eccentric mixture that has sustained it for more than two decades. Physical collections are due to begin arriving in 2027, while Halloween Man: Devil’s Night is available to read free digitally now through GlobalComix.
After all those years of raising the dead, Solomon Hitch isn’t ready for the grave just yet.
