Vecna Invades Dead by Daylight in Stranger Things Chapter 2 as Season 5 Drops on Netflix
Just when you thought Hawkins had finally caught a break, Behaviour Interactive has kicked the door to the Upside Down wide open again. Stranger Things Chapter 2 is officially coming to Dead by Daylight this January, and the new killer is none other than the bone fingered, nightmare inducing Vecna himself. In other words, the Fog is about to have a very bad day.
This announcement arrives at the perfect moment, with Stranger Things Season 5 having just landed on Netflix and sending the internet into its usual frenzy of theories, tears, and emotional damage. Behaviour, ever the opportunists in the best possible way, took the hype and said, yes let us make the game more traumatising too. Brilliant.

This marks the second time Hawkins has come to Dead by Daylight. The first Stranger Things chapter back in 2019 gave players the Demogorgon as a killer, plus two survivors, Steve Harrington and Nancy Wheeler. The chapter also came with the Underground Complex map, a delightful maze of laboratory corridors perfect for running in circles and making terrible decisions. For a long time, that chapter disappeared due to licensing issues, but its return last year gave fans hope that more Hawkins chaos could follow. And now here we are, with Chapter 2 ready to drag us back into fluorescent lighting and existential dread.
Vecna is an enormous addition, both literally and narratively. If you have watched Stranger Things recently, you know he is basically what happens when a wizard, a spider, and a Victorian poet get shoved into a blender and then dumped into an evil alternate dimension. He is psychological horror with a capital P, and Behaviour seems to be leaning into that. While his full power set is still hidden, the early teaser shows flickering lights, dreamy distortions, and the general vibe of someone reaching into your mind and rearranging the furniture. Expect illusions, telekinetic aggression, and possibly screaming. Mostly your own.

This continues Behaviour’s long tradition of licensing some of the biggest names in horror. Dead by Daylight is less a game now and more like a star studded slasher convention where murder is the meet and greet. Michael Myers stalks you in Haddonfield. Freddy Krueger claws through dreams. Leatherface revs up with a grin. Chucky came bouncing in recently with more enthusiasm than anyone expected. Castlevania joined the roster with Dracula bringing aristocratic menace. Even Alien landed with the Xenomorph ready to ruin your generator progress in three seconds flat.
With Stranger Things back in the Fog, fans are already hoping this means more dream licence chapters could finally be possible. Jason Voorhees remains the crown jewel everyone wants, the holy grail of slasher acquisitions. Imagine it: Friday the 13th in Dead by Daylight. Jason stomping across maps. Counselors running for their lives. The entire community screaming. Some of us have been praying for years, clutching our machetes in hope while checking every livestream for a hint. The legal situation has always been a mess, but stranger things have happened. Yes that was intentional.
Other fan favourites also remain on the wish list. The Fisherman from I Know What You Did Last Summer would be a perfect addition, swinging that hook with dramatic flair. Norman Bates lurking as a quiet, twitchy killer would immediately become a meme and a menace. The Creeper, Ghostface variants, the list goes on forever. Behaviour basically has the horror world in its hands now, and the community wants everything.
For now though, Vecna is more than enough to keep survivors shrieking. This crossover arrives at a moment when Stranger Things mania has never been higher, and dropping one of the most terrifying villains from the show into Dead by Daylight feels like a natural evolution. This is a game that thrives on fan obsession and cultural moments and right now Vecna is the moment.
January cannot arrive fast enough. Start practising your loops. Begin rehearsing your panic. And pray your teammates do not disconnect the moment they hear a creepy voice whispering inside their skulls.
Because Vecna is coming. And Hawkins is once again open for business.
