Evil Dead Burn Wraps Filming and Sets Fire to a 2026 Release Date
The Deadites never rest for long. After the bloody success of Evil Dead Rise in 2023, fans were promised that more carnage was already in the works, with Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Rob Tapert all hinting that the plan was to unleash a new entry every few years. True to their word, the next chapter has already clawed its way through production. Sébastien Vaniček’s Evil Dead Burn has officially wrapped filming, and the Necronomicon will reopen its pages in cinemas on July 24, 2026.
Vaniček, who first terrified audiences with his debut feature Vermin (also known as Infested), announced the end of filming with a gleeful social media post that promised plenty of mayhem ahead. Warner Bros Pictures and New Line Cinema are teaming up to bring the film to the big screen, while Sony Pictures will handle international distribution. Canal Plus will deliver the movie to UK audiences, and Metropolitan will spread the evil across France.

Plot details remain sealed tighter than a cellar door in a Michigan cabin, but Vaniček has teased that he was given full creative control and that Evil Dead Burn will carry a distinctly French twist. If that means baguettes of doom and possessed croissants, we are entirely on board. The director penned the screenplay with Florent Bernard, and together they promise a vision that honours Raimi’s spirit while setting fire to expectations.
Leading the cast is Souheila Yacoub, fresh from Dune Part Two, who brings both grace and grit to the world of Kandarian chaos. She is joined by Hunter Doohan from Your Honor, Luciane Buchanan from The Night Agent, and Tandi Wright, who previously survived Pearl. Buchanan recently told Collider that the script feels unlike any previous Evil Dead, praising Vaniček’s distinct spin and the incredible ensemble cast. Translation: expect something that feels fresh, fierce, and full of gooey surprises.
Evil Dead Burn continues the franchise’s proud tradition of discovering new directorial talent. Sam Raimi’s original The Evil Dead was his own debut and introduced Bruce Campbell as the chainsaw-swinging legend Ash Williams. Since then, every new iteration has brought in a fresh voice with terrifying results. Fede Alvarez stepped up in 2013 with his brutally intense Evil Dead reboot, followed by Lee Cronin’s nerve-shredding Evil Dead Rise in 2023. Vaniček’s jump from the creature-filled Vermin to this franchise feels perfectly in line with the series’ history of trusting the newcomers who know how to make audiences squirm.

For those keeping count, Evil Dead Burn is not the only project currently bubbling in the franchise’s infernal cauldron. Just months after Vaniček was hired, filmmaker Francis Galluppi, who made his debut with The Last Stop in Yuma County, was tapped to write and direct his own Evil Dead movie. Details on that one remain locked away, but Raimi and company clearly have plans to turn this universe into a blood-soaked buffet. And that is not all. An animated continuation of Ash vs Evil Dead is also creeping its way through development. Because if there is one thing we have learned, it is that Evil never dies, it just changes format.
Evil Dead Burn promises to keep the legacy alive and twitching. Whether Vaniček goes for the grim dread of Alvarez’s vision or the chaotic splatter energy of Raimi’s originals, the idea of a French twist on Deadite mythology is reason enough to get excited. It may be another long wait until next July, but horror fans know that good things come to those who are patient — or at least those who can resist opening ancient books bound in human flesh.

Until then, sharpen your chainsaws and stock up on boomsticks. The Dead are coming back for seconds, and the fire is only just beginning to spread.
